Verschiedene Sorten Wolle mit dem Spinnrad versponnen

So far this is what i have spun with my Ashford Kiwi, from thin to thick yarn.
Das habe bisher mit meinem Ashford Kiwi versponnen, Dickes bis Dünnes feines Garn.

Krapp auf Wolle

Finally i have managed to fire up the pot, and just after half an hour later i had to remove the burnings logs.
Due to them special stones and the material of the pot who do store alot of heat, it would have been well to hot. And because i wanted that nice Madderred and not drift of into the brownish red, the fire had to be removed.In the moment the whole pot is cooling down and now and again i give it a good stir so that the dye is equaly everywhere. In the picture it looks very much like a orangy red. Pictures will follow ones the cloth is finished.
Nachdem ich es endlich geschaft hatte unter dem Pott Feuer zumachen, konnte ich es nach einer halbe Stunde wieder aus machen. Durch die Schamottsteine und das Material des Kesseleinsatz wird genug Hitze gespeichert und es wäre am Ende zu heiß geworden. Und da ich ein Krapprot und nicht in das Bräunliche abrutschen wollte, mußte das Holz wieder raus. Im Moment kühlt das Ganze langsam runter und ab und an rühre ich den Stoff um. Auf dem Bild sieht es ein bißchen Orangig aus aber das täuscht. Bilder folgen noch von dem fertig gefärbten Stoff.

The cloth has finished its time in the dye and is hanging up for drying, really cant wait to see how it will look like ones its dry, hopefully before the storm starts we are expecting. The pot still holds lots of madderdye and i am still waiting for the postman to deliver me my woolstash.

Der Stoff ist fertig gefärbt und hängt zum Trocknen auf der Leine mal schauen wie er aussieht wenn er dann ganz trocken ist, hoffentlich bevor das Unwetter hier anfängt. Im Pott habe ich noch genügend Krappsuppe so das ich noch Kammzüge ( warte immer noch auf die Post) beizen und färben kann.

And taaaataaaaa thats how he looks dry, unfortunate the camera didnt pick up the nice wow red up.

Und so sieht er trocken aus, leider gibt die Kamera nicht das schöne Rot wieder.

Sommerballkleid

I am sooooooo proud my very own made Sommerballdress
The Top is a Silkcorsett with propper spiral steel and flat steel boning a metal front clasp and lacing at the back. I have done a VHS course and the lovely lady who did run it helped me with the skirt part later. Originaly i wanted to sew little creme pearls on, but i would have not finished it in time. I also have been warned that ones the corsett is tied, i will not be able to eat.Lets face it i didnt eat very much on that evening.

Darauf bin ich gaaaanz Stolz, ein selbst gefertigtes Kleid.
Das Oberteil besteht aus einem Seidenkorsett mit eingearbeitetem Flach und Spiralstahl mit einer Metallschließe vorne und einer Schnürung hinten. Ich habe damals ein VHS Kurs gemacht, bei einer ganz lieben und geduldigen Lehrerin die mir auch später privat bei dem Rockteil geholfen hat.
Ursprünglich sollten auch noch Cremfarbende Perlen an den Raffungen angebracht werden, aber dann wäre ich nicht fertig geworden.
Ich wurde ja auch vorgewarnt das wenn das Korsett geschnürt ist das man damit nicht essen kann, wollte es ja nicht glauben aber viel habe ich an dem Abend nicht runter bekommen.

Woll und Seidenstoff in der Beize

Hatte mir einen alten 125l Brüggetopf (Schlachtkessel) ersteigert das beste vom Volumen her was man nehmen kann um größere Stoffmengen zufärben. Hier dümpeln beide Stoffe in der Alaunbeize.

Macht nicht den Fehler den ich gemacht habe, lagert die Stoffe maximal 1 Woche feucht, den auch trotz Alaunbeize gibt es Stockflecken oder auch Flecken beim Färben die nichts mit der Färbung zutun haben.

Herjolfnes Kleid

Hatte ja schon erwähnt gehabt das ich im Moment an meinem Herjolfnes Kleid am nähen bin und so sieht es gerade aus. Klar würde es schneller gehen das ganze mit der Nähmaschine zu nähen, aber es macht dann doch den Charm und Stolz aus wenn Frau sagen kann das habe ich alles mit der Hand genäht. Gefüttert wird das Kleid am Oberteil mit einer Seide. Vorne und an die Ärmel bis zu den Ellenbogen werden Stoffknöpfe gesetzt, ich habe gerade mal 7 Stück geschaft. Wieviele ich am Ende brauchen werde das ergibt sich dann und verstecken muß ich sie auch weil meine Katzen die sonst verschleppen.

As i have mentioned before i am hand sewing a Herjolfnes gown and thats how it looks like in the moment. Of course it would be a lot faster to do so with a sewingmachine, but it makes you more proud to say thats all hand stichted. I will line the top part with a silk, and the sleeves and front part of the gown will get some buttons made of the same woolcloth. So far i have managed to make 7, how many more i do need, i do  not know yet. And i have to hide them from my cats as they would kidnap them.

Erstmal der Anfang aller Dinge

Well i would like to introduce you to the Wollschnüffler Blog and the things i am creating. In the Moment i am trying to reduce my woolstash as i am expecting a new order in shortly.
Meanwhile i am handsewing my very first dress based on findings in graves who were excavated in the burial ground of the old Norse colony of Herjolfsnes ("Herjolf's Point") in Greenland.
It will keep me busy for some time but i wont give up to make it entirely by hand. Why spoil the fun?!
And in the moment i am having several meter of nice woolencloth in a madderdye, but because it started to thunder and hell broke loose i even couldn´t start the fire under the pot, but hopefully i can start dying the very next day. As there are also a silkcloth to be dyed in yellow and with indigo to get (fingercrossed) a nice green.
And eehhhhm yes i also got a Kromski Harp (Loom) what would like to be used very soon, i am spinning the yarn for doing so.
Naalbinding, Tabletweaving and many more.

Auf dem Wollschnüffler Blog möchte ich euch die Dinge vorstellen die ich am Werkeln bin, im Moment versuche ich einiges an Wolle mit meinem Spinnrad zu verspinnen den ich werde den Platz für den Nachschub brauchen der bald eintreffen sollte.
Desweiteren nähe ich per Hand ein Wollkleid nach dem Herjolfnes Schnittmuster, und im Moment dümpeln mehrere Meter Wollstoff in einer Krappsuppe, aber da es anfing zu Gewittern mußte ich die Aktion abbrechen und Morgen kann ich hoffentlich das ganze endlich erhitzen. Den es wartet noch ein Seidenstoff der erst Gelb mit Färberginster und dann Indigo überfärbt wird um ein schönes Grün zu zaubern.
Ach ja und Weben möchte ich auch mal, der Webrahmen verstaubt schon langsam, dafür spinne ich ja den Kettfaden
Und Nadelbinden, Brettchenweben ect ect also einiges was ich so durch einander mache.
